So far 2010 has been one of many firsts for me. My first real winter of snow, sleet and icy bite-your-face-off winds. My first snow-related injury, which resulted in me spending a couple of days in Paris in a faux-sling. My first New Years not to include some kind of obnoxious fireworks display. And my very first proper Fashion Week.
If you frequent the many fashion sites and blogs on the information super highway, much has already been said. So just really quickly here are a few highlights because:
a) There are a million better fashion writers than I (Cathy Horyn, Style.com, Suzy Menkes, Susie Bubble, WWD.com et al)
b) I didn’t take any decent photos except possibly the ones on this disposable aka my official fashion week camera:

Of the handful of shows we attended, Pam Hogg was the most fun, quite possibly in large part due to the best celebrity spot of the week, Nick Cave. Fashion wise it was a mix of layered tulle (the best were the tulle head pieces), sheer, metallics and tiiiight bodycon mini jumpsuits in latex/lycra. You know, casual every day wear.
Roksanda Ilincic I normally enjoy, but this season I wasn’t totally feeling it. It seemed a little too much like a Lanvin-esque rehash? This dress though, when it came down the runway in all it’s billowy, silky caped goodness got me excited.

The second most exciting “celebrity moment” was Roisin Murphy at the Linda Farrow party. We love Roisin, but my crappy blackberry camera does not.

I got to practice my solo dj skills at the Osman Yousefzada after show party, which was fun. They lent me this amazing black and white pleated dress, so here is my once and only fashion blogger self portrait moment courtesy of Photo Booth.

Other favourite looks/collections (via style.com):
Christopher Kane was a beautiful floral, leather and lace party…

Peter Pilotto always turn in a delightful colour palette with elegant draping…

Need this Buberry coat to keep me warm next winter. Pretty sure it would also guard me against any future snow-related mishaps…

And Topshop Unique went totally wild and I totally loved it…

By the end of the week, I was convinced all the real fashion journalists and bloggers were zombie robots. How they do it all without collapsing amazes me. Parties and shows might seem like easy work, but those who have to file reports at the end of each show I have much respect for.
Thanks London Fashion Week, it was fun. Lets do it again some time.
